Free/ Reduced Meals

2012-2013 applications are now available.   Please do not submit a form dated 2011-2012 for the 2012-2013 school year.  It will not be accepted and you will have to reapply.  Thank you! 

If you do not want to fill out a paper application you may also complete an ONLINE application through Family Access.  Enter your username and password in Family Access then click the link to Food Service.  There you will see a tab labeled Applications.  Follow the directions from there.

2012-2013 Free/Reduced Meal Application - (Word)      This is a fill in form.  You may either print it out and fill it in by hand or fill it in online.  You must print it when you are done and sign it.  It must be turned into the Food Service Office or your schools Kitchen in order to be processed.  Do not send by email.

The North Kitsap School District participates in the National School Breakfast & Lunch Program. You may apply for Free / Reduced meals at any time during the school year. Applications are provided by the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction usually by mid-August. Applications will be made available online, in your school office, the Food Service office, and in your school kitchen. 
 
Please note: All Free/Reduced applications from last school year  will expire after the first 30 school days of the new school year.
 
~Fill out the application as completely as possible (one application per household):  
 
  • For Households who DO NOT recieve Basic Food, TANIF or FDIPR:
Part 1.  :  All students' full names w/schools they attend  and their personal, regular income. NEW!! please add your Foster Children  here and check the box marked Foster Child next to their name. 
Part 2.  :  Names of all members of the household (do not include names of students listed above)  with their incomes (before deductions) and how often they receive it (weekly, 2Xmonth, monthly, etc...). 
Part 3.  :  Total of household members (from part 1. & 2.)
Part 4.  :  Signature of Adult Household member

  • For Households that DO receive Basic Food, TANIF or FDIPR:

Part 2.  :  If anyone in the household (beside your student listed above) is receiving Basic Food, TANIF or FDIPR please enter their name and their CASE NUMBER

The rules have changed!!  Foster Children may now be included on a household Application for Free/ Reduced meals.  They do not have to be separated out.  Just make sure you check the box marked Foster Child.  They will automatically be approved for Free meals and the rest of the children on the applicaiton will be approved based upon size of household (including the Foster Children) and household income.

Have your student drop it off in your school kitchen with the Food Service staff. We have 10 business days to process the application (it usually takes 24-48 hours).
 
You are responsible for all charges until your application is approved.
 
A letter will be mailed home to notify you of the application results. If you do not receive a letter within 3 days of submitting the application please contact the Food Service office.
 
If you were approved for Temporary Free meals, you have 6 weeks to contact the Food Service office and/or submit a new application with income information.
 
Once you have been approved, in order to receive the free/reduced rate, your student must choose a complete meal. That means 3 out of the 4 four food groups, in the appropriate amounts at breakfast and 3 out of the 5 food groups in the appropriate amounts at lunch.
Anything else will be considered Ala Carte and your student will be charged accordingly.
 
A new application must be submitted each year (It cannot be submitted on last years form). Your child’s status from the prior year will roll over to the next school year for the first 30 school days. After that, a new application must be on file. All charges accrued between when the old one expires and the new one is approved are the parent and/or guardians responsibility to pay back
