Seal of Biliteracy

North Kitsap School District is proud to offer the Seal of Biliteracy and Language Credit Competency Testing. The Washington State Office of the Superintendent of Public Education has established the protocols for managing this program. Through the test, secondary students can earn one, two, three, or four credits in the student's chosen language.  Receiving four credits earns the student the state Seal of Biliteracy, pending meeting graduation state standard in English Language Arts.  Secondary students at Kingston Middle School and Kingston High School, Poulsbo Middle School and North Kitsap High School can register to take the test once in the fall and once in the spring.  The test can take up to 3 hours. 

             
Avant Assessment offers testing in Arabic, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean (Spring 2018) Mandarin (Simplified and Traditional), Polish (Spring 2018), Russian, and Spanish.  The Avant Stamp4S is computer-adaptive and tests listening, speaking, reading, and writing.  The test could take up to 3 hours. This year, the test costs $35 payable to Ms. Brandy Lacey (KMS), Ms. Lori Camp (KHS), Ms. Hazel Brown (PMS) or Ms. Vicki Wright (NKHS).

            The 
ALTA Assessment is a telephonic and written test scheduled individually by the test coordinator, Kate Moriarty, and the test-taker or test-taker's parents or guardians. Alta testing offers 97 languages and costs $140 payable to Ms. Brandy Lacey (KMS), Ms. Lori Camp (KHS), Ms. Hazel Brown (PMS) or Ms. Vicki Wright (NKHS).
