2018 Levy Measures

February 2018 Levy Measures

On October 26, 2017 the North Kitsap School Board approved resolutions for two levies to be placed on the February 13, 2018 ballot for voter approval.  Resolution 10-02-17 , Educational Program and Operations Levy, and Resolution 10-03-17, Facilities and Technology Capital Projects Levy, are available for review.

School Districts use levies to locally fund programs, operations, facility and technology needs that are not funded by the state.

Educational Program and Operations (EP&O) Levy

This levy replaces the 2014 Maintenance and Operations Levy approved by voters that expires at the end of 2018.  This levy provides continued funding for important programs and operations not funded by the state.  For North Kitsap, local levy dollars support four major categories:
  • Classroom and Program Support
  • Special Education
  • Transportation
  • Athletics and Extracurricular activities
Read about the specific funding of these four areas under the Educational Program and Operations Levy tab.

Facilities and Technology Capital Projects Levy

Capital Levies provide funding for items that require a larger sum of money to acquire, improve, or maintain school buildings and technology solutions.  Capital improvements for school districts and are not funded by the state.  School districts in Washington must rely on local, voter-approved funding to maintain and improve school buildings and technology.

For North Kitsap, funds from this four year levy will be used for critical replacements, repairs and upgrades of HVAC units, roof replacements, technology equipment and infrastructure replacement and upgrades, security and safety upgrades, field improvements and turf replacements.

Read more about funding specifics and why the projects are critical to providing safe and secure learning environments for our students under the Capital Projects Levy tab.
