School Funding Breakdown

The General Operating fund:
District's day-to-day funding
This is the fund that the district uses to pay it's basic bills - payroll, supplies, utilities, etc.
Whole Funding

State General Purpose Funding:  50%
The biggest piece of the pie comes from the state.  This is the funding that the state provides for basic education.
As you can see, it covers just one-half of the district's operating budget.
State General

State Special Purpose Funding:  14%
This piece of the pie also comes from the state but it must be spent on specific programs, like transportation.  This portion can only be spent on the special programs it is designated for.  Total state funding (General + Special) provides just 64% of the districts funding.  This is down from 75% in 1998.
State Special Purpose

Levy Funding:  23%
The second-largest piece of the pie comes from the local levy.  This is nearly 1/4 of the total operating budget for the district.
Levy Pulled out
The current levy will expire at the end of 2014.  The pie will have a large piece missing if the levy is not renewed.
