Four Year University Application Process
Four year universities require students to take the SAT and/or the ACT as part of the application process. Plan to take the SAT in May or June of your junior year, (colleges prefer that it not be taken any earlier.) This allows time for a retake in the fall of your senior year, if necessary.

  • If you need a transcript – complete the transcript request form and turn it in to your floor office.  Students are responsible for mailing the transcript.
  • If you need a counselor recommendation - please complete the Guidelines and Data for Letters of Recommendation Form and return it to the counselor.  Allow three to four weeks ahead of the college deadline to give the counselor time to finish the letter.
  • If you need a recommendation from a teacher - submit a Guidelines and Data for Letters of Recommendation Form to the teacher four weeks prior to the application or scholarship deadline.

SAT I, SAT II and ACT

  • Register for the SAT I (Reasoning) and II (Subject Tests) at www.collegeboard.com
  • Register for the ACT at http://actstudent.org/
  • Most colleges prefer the scores from these tests be sent directly to the college from the testing agency.

Two Year Colleges

Community colleges do not require any of the above tests, but students will need to take a placement test.  Consult the website of the college you wish to attend to find out how to take the test.
