Four year universities require students to take the SAT and/or the ACT as part of the application process. Plan to take the SAT in May or June of your junior year, (colleges prefer that it not be taken any earlier.) This allows time for a retake in the fall of your senior year, if necessary.
SAT I, SAT II and ACT
Two Year Colleges Community colleges do not require any of the above tests, but students will need to take a placement test. Consult the website of the college you wish to attend to find out how to take the test. Students benefit most by spending 15-30 minutes a day, every day, for the two months prior to their test date. FAFSA – Free Application for Federal Student Aid To access the forms and to submit online after January 1, 2012, go to www.fafsa.ed.gov There are useful tools to estimate the expected family income at www.faster4caster.ed.gov Scholarship Information Scholarship information is available online at the Kingston High School Website. Common Application Over six-hundred colleges and universities use the Common Application as part of their application process.
