Ribbon Cutting Celebrates New Gymnasium at David Wolfle Elementary
Updated

David Wolfle Elementary celebrated the completion of its new gymnasium with a ribbon cutting ceremony on August 28th. The event highlighted both the cultural roots of the community and the bright future of the school.

The ceremony began with songs shared by S’Klallam singers and remarks from Tribal Chairwoman Amber Caldera. Chairwoman Caldera reflected, “This school has always been a space where community and education come together and it’s wonderful to see it growing to serve our children in new ways.”

Wolfle students also marked the occasion by burying a time capsule filled with memories from their school. The capsule is set to be opened in 50 years, connecting future generations to the Wolfle community of today.

Principal Beth Lahaie shared that the celebration was about much more than the ribbon itself: “Today is not just about cutting a ribbon, it’s about opening a new chapter for our school and community. It’s about a place to learn, grow, and build memories that last a lifetime.”

Following the ceremony, families, students, and community members were welcomed inside to tour the new gymnasium.

The $4.9 million project was funded by the voter-approved 2022 Capital Projects Levy. Bassetti Architects designed the space, and Kassel & Associates, Inc. served as the general contractor.

The new gymnasium is now open and ready to support Wolfle students in learning, wellness, and community events for years to come.
