Spring 2020 Capital Projects Update
The Spring 2020 Capital Projects Update presented an ambitious plan for the upcoming summer, focusing on enhancing the safety, comfort, and technological capabilities of our schools. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the shift to remote learning, our commitment to improving school facilities remained robust and unwavering. The primary goal was to ensure the well-being of our staff and students and provide them with state-of-the-art technological access.
Key projects included security system upgrades across campuses to reinforce a safe learning environment. Renovations to classrooms, restrooms, and common areas were also planned to improve overall comfort and functionality of these spaces. Significant investments were earmarked for upgrading the technology infrastructure of the district. Plans were set to install high-speed internet connections and integrate advanced digital tools, aiming for seamless technology integration into the educational experience. Furthermore, specific levy-funded projects were lined up, including HVAC renovation at Poulsbo Middle School, turf and roof improvements at North Kitsap High School, the installation of a portable at Hilder Pearson Elementary School, and ADA improvements to North Kitsap High School Stadium through a new grant. The laying of dark fiber and procurement of new technology equipment were also significant components of the summer's plan.
