Suquamish Elementary Opens New Gym for Students and Community
The Suquamish Elementary Gymnasium addition is officially open, with students now enjoying the new space for physical education and the community benefiting from additional after-school and evening use. The gymnasium opened at the end of January 2025 and provides 4,200 square feet of dedicated space designed to meet the needs of both students and the community.
Previously, the gym also served as the cafeteria, auditorium, and meeting space, often creating scheduling limitations to the school's ability to serve students. With the addition of the new gymnasium, students now have a dedicated PE space, allowing for more consistent and flexible programming. This addition also opens up the existing multipurpose space for cafeteria and school use.
The new gym is designed to serve not only the school but also the community, with a secure entry that allows for evening and after-school events. This added flexibility provides valuable space for local activities, fostering stronger connections between the school and the surrounding community.
The gymnasium addition was made possible by the 2022 Capital Projects Levy, and North Kitsap School District deeply appreciates the support from the local community. The levy passed by voters made this project—and others like it—possible, helping to ensure that North Kitsap students have access to the best learning environments.
