Facilities Advisory Committee
About the Committee
A Facilities Advisory Committee (FAC) develops recommendations for school facilities in the short and long term.
NKSD’s FAC comprises community members, parents, students, and school staff members who study available information and projections to understand current school building conditions and plan for future school facility’s needs.
Simply put, NKSD’s FAC helps ensure that the district’s facilities are safe, adequate, and well-maintained and that we are planning for future needs.
FAC recommendations are informed by:
- School facility needs assessment data.
- Present and future educational program needs
- Building condition reports
- Input from students, families, citizens, and staff.
- School enrollment history and Projections
- Community development information
- Capital funding options.
- and more…
We want your Input!
Please let us know what you would like to see included in a future levy or bond so that we can ensure it's on the list and the Facilities Advisory Committee (FAC) knows it's a priority for you. Your feedback and suggestions are crucial in helping us prioritize the projects that will best serve our community.
Our Work

The third FAC meeting on May 29th at Suquamish Elementary included a campus tour, a financial overview with a Capital Levy recommendation, and discussions on future levies, SCAP eligibility, and school conditions, with Pearson Elementary identified as a priority for replacement.
The Facilities Advisory Committee (FAC) met on May 15th at Hilder Pearson Elementary and discussed the condition of Pearson Elementary, funding definitions, and communication.
At the April 23, 2024, the FAC discussed community needs, ballot measures, engagement tactics, and facilities upgrades with community involvement.
