The Public Records Office of the North Kitsap School District serves as a central point of contact for requests related to public records. Public Records Exemptions
NKSD is not required to permit public inspection and copying of records in which public disclosure of the record is prohibited, restricted, or limited by state and federal statutes or regulations. The following records are exempt:
- The School District is prohibited by statute from disclosing lists of individuals for commercial purposes.
- The Public Records Act, RCW 42.56, provides that certain public records are exempt from public disclosure, inspection, and copying.
- Other statutes may exempt or prohibit the disclosure of other documents and information.

Costs for Public Records
In compliance with state law, the North Kitsap School District cannot charge for locating a public record or making it available for review or inspection. However, in certain circumstances, we may charge for the actual costs of copying public records, which may include staff time spent making the copies.
