Student Technology Help
Logging into an NKSD Chromebook
All student accounts will unlock on August 27, 2024 for the first day of school. Students will follow the directions below to gain access to their secure student account.
Initial Student Log In
Elementary
-
Elementary students will use Clever badges as opposed to passwords for their first login step.
-
On their first login, students will select two images, one food and one animal, that will act as their second level of account security. They will need to remember the pictures they selected as they will need these to login to their account moving forward.
-
If a student needs a badge or pictures reset, please let the classroom teacher know.
Please watch the video below to see the process for the initial login and then logging in and confirming the pictures.
Secondary
-
On their first login, secondary students will use their 09 number as their username. Their password will follow the generic password formula of first initial, last initial, period, NK2024, first three letters of birth month.
-
Example student login
-
Johnny Digital is in the school year 2024-2025, his student ID # is 0912345, and his birth month is October. So his login would be:
-
Username: 0912345
-
Password: jd.nk2023oct
-
-
-
After entering their generic passwords, secondary students will be required to create a unique password. The password must be 8 digits and include letters, numbers, and at least one special character. This is the password the student will use to login moving forward!
-
On their first login after choosing a personal password, students will select two images, one food and one animal, that will act as their second level of account security. They will need to remember the pictures they selected as they will need these to login to their account moving forward.
-
If a student needs a password or pictures reset, please let the classroom teacher know.
Please watch the video below to see the process for the initial login and then logging in and confirming the pictures.
Restricted Logon Hours
Scaffolded time restrictions are in place to support the overall well-being of students. Research shows that the blue light from electronic screens can reduce or delay the body's production of melatonin, which can hinder a person's ability to fall asleep. Blue light can also shorten the amount of time people stay in rapid-eye movement (REM) and slow wave sleep. These two types of sleep are directly linked to cognitive functioning during the day. While we are very excited to be able to provide these resources to students, we also take the responsibility that comes with these tools very seriously
- Elementary students’ access is restricted from 9:00 pm-6:00 am.
- Middle school students’ account access is restricted from 11:00 pm-6:00 am.
- High school students do not have time restrictions.
