Surplus Sale

When our schools no longer need equipment, furniture, or supplies, these items go through a review process that allows them to be sold to the public. Items for sale to the public can be purchased by contacting Craig B. Frick (cfrick@nkschools.org), or by bidding online via the North Kitsap School District's PublicSurplus.com listings.

How the Surplus Works

1. An item is declared surplus

A school principal or department supervisor documents in writing why the item is no longer needed by the district.

2. NKSD Schools get first look

During a 2 week period, every other school and department in the district has the opportunity to view and claim the item for their own use.

3. Other schools are notified

Following the 2-week NKSD period, other public and private schools in Washington have a 2-day window to view or purchase items.

4. Public notice is published

The district publishes notice of surplus in a newspaper of general circulation, as well as on the NKSD website. Items can be sold to the general public 30 days after the initial written notice is published.
