This April, North Kitsap Schools are proud to celebrate the Month of the Military Child. Nearly 2 million children in military families face unique challenges, including frequent moves and family separations. These remarkable young people demonstrate incredible strength and courage while adapting to new schools, making new friends, and supporting their families' service to our nation.
Library Media Specialists connect students with books that spark imagination, fuel curiosity, and help them see themselves in new ways. They teach digital citizenship and research skills that are essential in today’s world. They guide students in becoming thoughtful, responsible users of information—and open the door to lifelong learning.
The Suquamish Elementary Gymnasium addition is officially open, with students now enjoying the new space for physical education and the community benefiting from additional after-school and evening use. The gymnasium opened at the end of January 2025 and provides 4,200 square feet of dedicated space designed to meet the needs of both students and the community.
Thanks to voter approval of the 2024 Capital Levy, planning is underway for improvements at Suquamish, Pearson, and Gordon Elementary Schools. Staff and families have been part of the conversation, helping to ensure these projects reflect the needs of each school community.
In NKSD, we acknowledge and pay tribute to the pivotal role Black and African Americans have held in shaping U.S. history, recognizing their contributions, achievements, and enduring legacy.

Students at Poulsbo Middle School kicked off the new year in an exciting way—by stepping into brand-new classrooms! The much-anticipated expansion officially opened the first week of January 2025, providing students and staff with modern, collaborative learning spaces designed to enhance education for years to come.

On July 25, 2024, the NKSD Board of Directors approved a levy resolution for the November 5, 2024 ballot. The Facilities and Technology Capital Projects Levy would provide funding in the amount of $31,959,250 over six years for safety and security improvements, critical infrastructure repairs, facility updates to support equity across the district, and technology education.
We are excited to announce that the state has recognized six schools in the North Kitsap School District for closing opportunity gaps and for students’ growth and academic achievement as part of the Washington School Recognition Program for the 2021-22 and 2022-23 school years. These recognitions are a reflection of the hard work by our staff to know, value and support every student.

The 2nd Annual NAVSEA PSNS & IMF Robotics Competition took place on Saturday, April 2th, featuring over 35 teams and more than 60 students from Kingston Middle School and Hilder Pearson Elementary. At this event, school districts from the Kitsap and Olympic peninsulas recognize outstanding community leaders in our school districts.
