Celebrating Black History Month

February is Black History Month. In 2026, we recognize 100 years of Black history commemoration in the United States, a milestone that invites reflection, learning, and continued growth.
Throughout the month, we honor the stories, achievements, and lasting contributions of Black Americans across history and today. From leadership and creativity to community building and advocacy, Black history has shaped our nation and continues to influence who we are and where we are going. In NKSD, we acknowledge and pay tribute to the pivotal role Black and African Americans have held in shaping U.S. history, recognizing their contributions, achievements, and enduring legacy.
We encourage families to take time this month to explore Black history together and engage in conversations that build understanding, respect, and belonging.
