NKSD Celebrates Black History Month
Updated
In February, individuals across the United States commemorate Black History Month, acknowledging the accomplishments and historical significance of African Americans spanning various periods in U.S. history. Within NKSD, we acknowledge and pay tribute to the pivotal role Black and African Americans have held in shaping U.S. history, recognizing their contributions, achievements, and enduring legacy.
We invite and encourage you to celebrate with your family. Below are a few resources locally and nationally:
- Visit blackhistorymonth.gov to view exhibits and collections, and audio and video resources.
- African Americans and the Arts from the Association for the Study of African American Life and History
- Visit the Northwest African American Museum in Seattle for a list of both in-person and virtual events: https://www.naamnw.org/events
- View “The Sinclair Project” on the Kitsap History Museum website from home.
