Women's History Month
Updated

March is Women’s History Month, a time to honor the remarkable contributions of women throughout American history. North Kitsap School District proudly joins the nation in celebrating the leadership, achievements, and lasting impact of women who have shaped our world.

The national celebration began in 1987 when Congress officially designated March as Women’s History Month. It grew from a week-long recognition started in 1978, with organizers choosing the week of March 8 to align with International Women’s Day.

This year’s theme, “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations,” highlights the strength of women who have dedicated their lives to education, mentorship, and leadership—empowering generations to come.

Throughout history, women have broken barriers, shaped communities, and paved the way for the future. Their impact is felt in every part of our lives, and this month, we honor their achievements and the path they’ve forged.
