An Update and Future-Focused

An Update and Future-Focused
Updated

Dear North Kitsap Families,

I am writing to share an update and a few thoughts following our school board meeting tonight. At this evening’s board meeting, the North Kitsap School District Board of Directors voted to accept the resignation of Dr. Evans. I will officially assume all superintendent duties, effective immediately. I understand there may be questions about the board’s vote and Dr. Evans’ departure. Because this is a personnel and legal matter, I ask for your understanding of the District’s decision not to comment further at this time.

It is my hope that starting tonight, our district and our community can begin to shift our focus back to the incredible things happening in our schools. I have had the honor of recently attending several events that demonstrate there is so much to be proud of in North Kitsap.

  • The collaboration between Kingston and North Kitsap High School band directors to create a combined high school band concert event,

  • The performance I attended this morning at Pearson Elementary, where our students performed a pirate musical led by their music specialist, and

  • Interacting with students studying culinary arts at The Odin Inn Student Restaurant and enjoying a delicious lunch while there.

I understand that there is work to be done to enhance community engagement and build trust. Our team and I look forward to the opportunity to connect with families and the community, better understand needs and priorities, and do what we do best: provide our students with an excellent education.

Sincerely,

Rachel Davenport
Acting Superintendent
North Kitsap School District
