Celebrating Multilingual Achievement
Updated

We are proud to recognize the 19 graduating seniors from North Kitsap School District who have earned the Washington State Seal of Biliteracy. This honor is awarded to students who demonstrate proficiency in both English and at least one additional language, showcasing the academic achievement, cultural awareness, and global competency of our multilingual graduates.

To earn the Seal of Biliteracy, students must meet English Language Arts graduation requirements and demonstrate skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening in another language through an approved proficiency assessment. In addition to a certificate and a gold seal placed on their diploma, these students were honored with special cords to wear at graduation.

During the celebration, Superintendent Dr. Rachel Davenport shared:

“We believe bilingualism is a gift. It supports academic and professional success, strengthens brain function, and perhaps most importantly, builds deeper cultural understanding and human connection.”

We also recognize the many middle and high school students who participated in biliteracy testing this year, opening the door to earning world language credits and future recognition.

Congratulations to the Class of 2025 Seal of Biliteracy recipients!
