NKHS Bridge Teacher Marie Moore Named Rookie of the Year

North Kitsap High School Bridge Program teacher Marie Moore has been named the 2026 Rookie of the Year by the North Kitsap Teacher of the Year Foundation.

The award was presented by Foundation representative Melissa Rogers at last week's School Board meeting. The Rookie of the Year Award recognizes educators who inspire others and make a meaningful difference in the lives of students.

Marie helps students build the skills they need for life after high school, from onsite job training to practical life skills such as finding housing, managing bills, and navigating everyday responsibilities. Students, families, and colleagues describe her as caring, encouraging, and dedicated to helping students reach their full potential.

"Marie leads a team of paraeducators while also guiding students toward new levels of proficiency every day," wrote one nominator. "It is a joy to see her work."

Her impact extends beyond the classroom. Marie works closely with families and caregivers, providing resources, support, and encouragement as students prepare for the next stage of life.

As Principal Jimmy Sellers shared, "Marie doesn't just prepare her students for the world. She ensures they enter it knowing they are loved, capable, and ready to soar."
