Superintendent
Message from Dr. Rachel Davenport
Welcome to North Kitsap School District! It’s an honor to serve this incredible community as Superintendent, and I am deeply committed to ensuring every student receives an enriching, inclusive, and empowering education.
For me, education is about more than just academics, it’s about creating schools where every student feels seen, valued, and inspired to reach their full potential. I believe in the power of connection, innovation, and community collaboration to shape meaningful learning experiences that prepare students for a bright and dynamic future. My leadership is guided by four key priorities:
- Building connections and trust – Engaging with students, staff, families, and our community to create strong, supportive relationships.
- Strengthening systems and structures – Ensuring our schools operate effectively so teachers can focus on what matters most: student success.
- Fostering student-centered growth and innovation – Encouraging creative, hands-on learning opportunities that prepare students for an evolving world.
- Deepening community partnerships – Working alongside families, local organizations, and community leaders to support every child’s journey.
A Little About My Journey
Education has always been my passion, and my journey began as a paraeducator before becoming a teacher in the Bremerton School District. These early experiences in the classroom gave me a deep appreciation for the dedication of educators and the importance of ensuring all students receive the support they need to thrive.
I joined the North Kitsap School District over a decade ago as the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Kingston High School. Since then, I’ve had the honor of serving in various roles, including Director of Special Education, Director of Secondary Education, Director of Technology, and Executive Director of Human Resources. Each step of the way, I’ve remained focused on the same goal: making sure every student in our district has access to the support, opportunities, and experiences they need to succeed.
In the spring of 2024, I was honored to be named Interim Superintendent, and in November of 2024, I was officially selected to continue leading North Kitsap into the future.
Before becoming an educator, I was a proud student-athlete right here in Kitsap County. I graduated from Central Kitsap High School, where I was a three-sport athlete and named Female Athlete of the Year my senior year. My love for athletics continued in college as a Division 1 athlete at the University of Mississippi and later as a coach for local high school teams. In 2025, I was honored to be inducted into the Kitsap Sports Hall of Fame, an experience that reminded me of the powerful role schools play in shaping young lives, both inside and outside the classroom.
Beyond the Superintendent’s Office
When I’m not working alongside our incredible staff and students, I’m a wife and a mom, navigating the world of parenting teens and pre-teens. Whether cheering on my kids at their games, coaching a team, supporting their community service projects, or simply enjoying the beautiful outdoors of Kitsap County, my family keeps me grounded in the real-life experiences of the families we serve.
I look forward to continuing this journey with you. Whether you’re a student, parent, educator, or community member, your voice matters in shaping the future of North Kitsap. I encourage you to stay engaged, reach out, and partner with us as we work together to create vibrant, high-quality learning environments for all.
Warmly,
Dr. Rachel Davenport
