Teacher Use of Artificial Intelligence

At the start of the 2025–26 school year, North Kitsap School District officially adopted two AI tools for teachers: Magic School and Panorama Solara. In addition, teachers also have access to Google Gemini and NotebookLM through Google Workspace for Education. All of these services follow federal laws that protect student data. These tools are designed to help teachers personalize learning, make lessons more accessible, and keep students engaged.

These tools will help streamline much of the work that teachers do, allowing them more time to focus on building genuine connections in their classrooms.

Student Use of Artificial Intelligence

This year, Magic School is the only AI tool students will use directly. Its use will always be guided by teachers and only introduced when it benefits the class. Through this approach, students will learn how to use AI safely, responsibly, and accurately. Academic honesty remains a top priority, and students must always give credit if AI helps them with their work.

AI in our classrooms is a helper, not a shortcut. Students are encouraged to use AI to support their thinking, not to replace their own effort. Misuse of AI will result in disciplinary action, just as with any other academic integrity issue.

We are also committed to digital safety. Students will be reminded not to share personal information with AI tools and to double-check the accuracy of AI-generated content before using it in their work.

Finally, we believe that learning to use AI is part of becoming a responsible digital citizen. Students will explore the ethical use of AI, including understanding bias, fairness, and how technology can impact society. These lessons help prepare students to think critically and prepare them for the technological advances the future holds.
