Physical Education
Physical Education:
Fitness Counts!
In Physical Education (PE), our goal is to help students develop essential movement skills, fitness, social well-being, and confidence, setting them up for a lifetime of healthy, active living. At North Kitsap Elementary Schools, we are dedicated to providing a high-quality PE program that supports students' growth in these areas.
Our PE curriculum focuses on motor skills, movement patterns, and physical literacy—the ability and confidence to stay physically active throughout life. Unlike recess or free play, PE is a structured instructional program where students receive an average of 100 minutes of physical education per week, as required by Washington State law.
PE teachers work closely with classroom teachers to deliver engaging and effective lessons, ensuring all students learn about their physical selves and stay active all year.
