Graduating Seniors

Attention Seniors! Technology Collection and Google Takeout

All seniors must turn in their district-provided computers, charging cables, and hotspots (if applicable) by the end of the school day on June 12. Students may return their computers to the library as soon as they are done taking finals. Specific details for KHS and NKHS will be communicated by each building. The following fines will be assessed to the student account should an item not be returned:

  • $300 for computer

  • $45 for the computer charger

  • $100 for the hotspot.

All seniors will also want to use Google Takeout to download any of the NKSD Google files out of their Google Drive before graduation. Follow the steps found in these instructions: Google Takeout.

Student Email Retention Reminder

NKSD only retains student emails for the current academic year. Student inboxes will be reset at the beginning of August in preparation for the new school year. If students wish to keep copies of their emails, they will need to forward the email to a personal email address (secondary) or download their emails using Google Takeout (elementary or secondary). As students don’t receive emails from their teachers during the summer, it would be best to forward or export emails needing to be saved by the last day of school, June 17.

Summer Technology Assistance for Students

Since elementary (K-5) students do not take their devices home, elementary devices will remain in the schools through the summer. Since secondary students (6-12) take their devices home each day, they will keep their district-provided computers over the summer break. Summer technology assistance will be broken down as follows:

  • Credit Recovery Students
    • Students participating in credit recovery over the summer should bring their Chromebooks to school each day. Summer school families should use the Student Technology Resource Center to request technical assistance with their Chromebook. Teachers will also be able to submit help desk tickets for students.
  • Students Not Taking Credit Recovery
    • Starting on August 4, students who didn’t participate in summer school can begin to submit support tickets using the Student Technology Resource Center if their device is having issues. After receiving a support request, a team member will reach out to schedule a time for the device to be brought to the Student Support Center for repair.

Elementary Students

New End of the Year Elementary Device Procedure

If your family chose to have your elementary student’s Chromebook come home and not stay at the school this year, that Chromebook and the charger that was checked out with it need to be returned to your school’s library by Monday, June 9. Any Chromebook or charger not returned by the end of the year will be marked as lost in Destiny and any associated fines ($300 for Chromebook and $45 for charger) will be added to the student account.

Rising 6th and 9th Grade Students

Back-to-School Device Changes

All incoming ninth grade students will exchange their current Chromebook for the touchscreen Chromebook currently in use at the high schools. This device swap will occur during back-to-school events in August. Stay tuned for additional details.

Since all elementary devices are staying at the elementary schools, all incoming sixth grade students will receive their middle school device during back-to-school events in August.

More details regarding this process will be shared later this summer.
