This is the image for the news article titled NKSD on path to receive close to $500,000 in Grants from Puget Sound EnergyAs a part of our Capital Projects program, energy efficiency upgrades have been made at several schools. Kingston Middle School, David Wolfle Elementary, and Richard Gordon Elementary have been updated with energy-efficient HVACs. Kingston Middle School, Richard Gordon Elementary, and Vinland Elementary received LED lighting replacements. These projects are eligible for a variety of Puget Sound Energy grants.
The energy savings from these projects will provide NKSD with up to $90,000 per year in grant money from Puget Sound Energy. This can result in nearly a half million dollars in grant money from PSE over the next five years. Additionally, we could see savings of about 1 million kilowatt hours per year, roughly $75,000 annually.
This week, Richard Perlot from Puget Sound Energy provided NKSD with an initial grant payment of $77,284 for the work completed at Kingston Middle School, Vinland Elementary, and Wolfle Elementary. Richard Gordon Elementary is in the final stages of the HVAC upgrade, and once completed, another grant payment will be released for approximately $71,000.
The payments from these grants will supplement our Capital Projects work.
