Career & Technical Education
North Kitsap School District's Career and Technical Education (CTE) program provides students with the necessary academic and technical skills and knowledge to excel in future careers and become lifelong learners. The program focuses on teaching practical skills that are applicable in various industries. Designed to support students whether they plan to enter the workforce immediately after high school, pursue higher education, or learn new, practical skills, CTE provides a robust framework for career and college readiness. Students participating in CTE have the opportunity to:
- Explore potential careers from middle to high school, with a focus on high-demand, rapidly growing sectors like healthcare and sustainable technologies.
- School career counselors guide and support students in setting clear career objectives and developing a personalized High School and Beyond Plan. This plan details the academic and skills-based training best suited for their chosen career path, providing students and parents with confidence in career planning. Attend classes that integrate core academic subjects with practical, hands-on experiences at high schools, the West Sound Skills Center, and Olympic College.
- Pursue comprehensive career pathways leading to registered apprenticeships, industry certifications, and college degrees.
CTE not only helps students earn both high school and tuition-free college credits required for graduation, but also encourages personal growth, leadership, and community engagement. Through skills competitions and service projects, CTE inspires students to foster a sense of responsibility and initiative, motivating them to excel in their chosen career paths.
