Robotics at Kingston Middle: 8th Graders Put Their Robots to the Test

At Kingston Middle School, 8th grade students in the Robotics program ran their custom-built robots through a series of challenges on a practice competition field, putting weeks of design and programming work to the test.

Using the VEX Robotics system, students built their own robots from the ground up and tested how well their designs could complete tasks. As they moved through graded trials, students adjusted both programming and mechanics along the way, fine-tuning their robots to improve performance and earn points.

Robotics is a three-year middle school program that gives students hands-on experience with engineering, coding, and problem-solving. Students design, build, and program machines capable of automated actions, developing skills that carry forward into more advanced coursework.

This program connects to the Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math Career Cluster, helping students build a strong STEM foundation and preparing them for advanced robotics opportunities in high school.
