West Sound Technical Skills Center

The West Sound Technical Skills Center is an extension of eight school districts, including Bremerton, Central Kitsap, North Kitsap, North Mason, Peninsula, Quilcene, Bainbridge Island, and South Kitsap, that provides off-campus training for students between the ages of 16 and 21 or in grades 11 or 12. This job training is part of the public educational system and is offered to students at no cost, giving them a head start on pursuing post-secondary education.

The programs offered by West Sound Technical Skills Center equip students with technical knowledge and skills that can prepare them for advanced placement in apprenticeships, technical schools, two- and four-year colleges and universities, or entry-level employment in their chosen vocation.

At West Sound Technical Skills Center, students have the opportunity to explore technical skills and career options at no cost. WST's outstanding teaching staff, comprised of professionals with extensive experience in their respective fields, has contributed greatly to our students' high success rate in further education and employment after graduation.

To be eligible to attend West Sound Technical Skills Center, students must be enrolled as a junior or senior in one of the North Kitsap Schools, as well as meet any additional eligibility criteria set by the specific program they are interested in. Additionally, students from other schools within the Bremerton, Central Kitsap, Chimacum, North Mason, Peninsula, Quilcene, Bainbridge Island, South Kitsap, and Port Townsend areas may also be eligible to attend, as West Sound Tech is a cooperative educational program serving students in these areas.

North Kitsap School District provides bus transportation to West Sound Technical Skills Center at no cost to the students. Students who prefer to drive themselves must obtain permission from both their parents and their home school principal.

West Sound Technical Skills Center offers classes in three period blocks in the morning and afternoon, allowing students to enroll in other classes at their home schools. Morning classes are held from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM, while afternoon classes are held from 11:10 AM to 1:40 PM.

West Sound Technical Skills Center is located at 101 National Avenue North in Bremerton, which is conveniently situated only one block south of the intersection of Kitsap Way and National Avenue, and is approximately four blocks away from the junction of Highways 3 and 16.

West Sound Technical Skills Center offers a diverse range of career and technical education programs to high school students. These programs include 3D Animation & Gaming, Automotive Technology, Collision Repair Technology, Construction Careers, Cosmetology, Criminal Justice, Culinary Arts, Esthetics, Professional Medical Careers, HVAC, Fire Science, Welding, and the WST Year-Long Satellite Maritime Operations Program at Pt. Townsend. By offering a wide range of programs, West Sound Tech aims to provide its students with a tailored educational experience that aligns with their interests and career goals.
